North Charleston, SCKenneth Freeman will become the new R.B. Stall Warrior Head Football Coach, announced today by R.B. Stall Director of Athletics, Michelle Wilson. Freeman currently serves as the defensive coordinator at Ashley Ridge High School in Dorchester School District Two, where he helped the Swamp Foxes improve in overall wins and make the South Carolina High School (SCHSL)AAAAA playoffs. Coach Freeman will lead the Warriors for the start of spring practice; this will be his second head coaching job (football) at the varsity level. He comes with 24 years of coaching football within the state of South Carolina, four SCHSL state championships, six Lower State championships, 10 region championships, and 18 playoff appearances.

“We are absolutely pleased to announce that Coach Freeman will be taking the helm of our football program.” Wilson said. “Throughout our interview process having several conversations with Coach Freeman along with several members of our Stall faculty and staff, student athletes, and coaches over the past few days, it became evidently clear that he shares our values, passion, and competitive spirit, and most importantly, is truly dedicated to the personal growth of student-athletes. He has a great vision and plan for the future of our football program here at Stall.”

Prior to his time at Ashley Ridge, Freeman spent twoseasons as the defensive coordinator, assistant athletic director, and strength and conditioning coach under the current 2023-2024 AAAAA Lower State Head Coach of the Year Nick Pelham at White Knoll High School. He served as head varsity football coach at Midland Valley High School for two seasons where he piloted the varsity team to break an 18–game losing streak and spearheaded the junior varsity team’s first winning season in recent history. Before coaching at Midland Valley, Freeman was the varsity secondary coordinator for five seasons at Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, SC.

Freeman has also served as defensive coordinator at Spring Valley High School, Chapin High School, and Lexington High School from 2007-2014. Before entering the world of high school football, Coach Freeman served as an assistant football coach at Charleston Southern University and North Greenville University.

“I am very excited to get started and build relationships with the Warrior community, players, and their parents,” said Freeman. “I will do my best to lead these student-athletes and foster an environment of strong work ethics and passion. I have been impressed with Mr. Larson, Coach Wilson, and the staff members’ devotion to the development of the students’ success at Stall High School. Together, we will build a program that is positive, competitive, and wins championships.”

After winning the Maryland 4A state championship as a high school player at Seneca Valley High School, Freeman enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry, where he was selected and served in the prestigious 3rd Infantry Regiment, the official escort to the President of the United States. After his enlistment ended, Freeman walked on at Montgomery Junior college, where he earned All-American football player at the college level for Montgomery Junior College then continued his playing career at Gardner Webb University where he was both an All-American and All-Conference player. Coach Freeman earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Gardner-Webb, his MBA from Charleston Southern University and his Educational Specialist Degree from Arkansas State University.
